Ryan Birks, DVM, DACVS-SA
Dr. Ryan Birks is a board-certified small animal surgeon through the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. After graduation, he completed a one-year small animal rotating internship at Oklahoma State University Center for Veterinary Health Sciences followed by a one-year surgical internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists. He then completed a three-year small animal surgical residency at Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Birks has special interest in arthroscopic surgery, treatment of cranial cruciate ligament tears, and fracture repair.
Following his residency, Ryan was a staff surgeon at a multi-specialist referral hospital in San Antonio. He and his family recently relocated back to Missouri, they are pleased to finally be home near family and friends. When he is not performing surgery, Ryan enjoys spending time with his wife Ashley, son Wyatt, and daughter Ainsley.
Theresa has been a licensed Veterinary Technician for many years. She has enjoyed working in general practice, equine, surgery, specialty and emergency veterinary medicine.
Theresa enjoys providing great medical and compassionate care for her patients. She also enjoys client communications and creating relationships with clients.
She has called St. Louis home for all her life and currently resides in O’Fallon. Family is very important to her. She enjoys spending time with her husband, her three adult children, and her two small mixed breed pups. When all of her children visit for the holidays, she enjoys the bustle of the home with seven adults and seven dogs residing together!
Visiting National Parks and hiking in the mountains are her favorite things to do. She loves seeing animals in their natural habitat.
Natalie is a Registered Veterinary Technician from the St. Louis area. She earned her Veterinary Technician Specialized Associates degree from the Vet Tech Institute in December 2017. After graduation, she worked in emergency medicine until joining the Orthopedic Team in March 2020. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, water activities, tending to her many houseplants and spending time with her two dogs, Marshall and Gus.
Alex is a Registered Veterinary Technician. She has worked in emergency medicine for several years and enjoys helping pets (and their owners) in their most critical moments. Alex joined the Orthopedic Center in 2020 where she assists in orthopedic surgeries and taking care of patients before, during, and after their procedures. Her compassion is evident to both patients and their humans as she strives to make sure each pet lives their best life. Alex has 6 cats and 2 dogs at home. She hopes one day to own land where she could add to her herd; some goats, chickens, and maybe horses. (Photo Coming Soon!)
Isabelle is an Orthopedic Surgery Assistant and is currently attending school to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. She joined the Orthopedic Center in December of 2020 and has been in the veterinary field since 2019. Outside of work, Izzy enjoys traveling, doing puzzles, listening to crime podcasts, and spending time with her family, fiancé, 3 cats (Bonnie, Luna, & Ollie), and her dog Apollo. (Photo Coming Soon!)
